UV oil meter



The UV oil detector uses n-hexane as the extraction agent and complies with the requirements of the new national standard "HJ970-2018 Determination of Water Quality Petroleum by Ultraviolet Spectrophotometry".

Working principle

Under the condition of pH ≤ 2, the oil substances in the sample are extracted with n-hexane. The extract is dehydrated by anhydrous sodium sulfate, and then adsorbed by magnesium silicate to remove polar substances such as animal and vegetable oils. The absorbance is measured in the ultraviolet region. Petroleum The oil content and absorbance value are consistent with Lambert-Beer's law, thereby quantitatively analyzing the oil content in water.

Scope of application

Suitable for the determination of petroleum in surface water, groundwater and seawater. Widely used in environmental monitoring systems, petrochemical industry, colleges and universities, scientific research institutes, sewage treatment plants, water conservancy and hydrology, water plants, petrochemicals, papermaking, pharmaceuticals, steel, agriculture Environmental monitoring and other industries.

The difference

The application ranges of the UV method and the infrared method are different. The infrared method has a high detection limit and is suitable for the determination of oils (petroleum, animal and vegetable oils) in sewage. The UV method has high sensitivity and low detection limit and is suitable for surface water and groundwater. and determination of petroleum in seawater.

Infrared method: The infrared method has high sensitivity, accurate qualitative and quantitative results, and uses tetrachlorethylene as the extraction agent to replace carbon tetrachloride that destroys the ozone layer.

Ultraviolet method: The ultraviolet method has high sensitivity and is suitable for the determination of petroleum in surface water, groundwater and seawater. The standard puts forward clear quality assurance and quality control requirements, which can ensure the scientificity and accuracy of monitoring data during the use of the method.
